The School of Continuing Studies Uptown location shares classroom, study and recreational facilities with other academic divisions. The campus is located in New Orleans, LA on St. Charles Avenue in a historic residential district where architectural styles run from humble Creole cottages to impressive Greek Revival mansions.
Across the street from Tulane is Audubon Park, 400 acres that encompass tennis courts, golf courses, jogging and bicycle paths, horse stables, the Audubon Zoo and some of the most magnificent live oaks you'll ever see.
Dean Rick Marksbury on the campus secret to success: "I take a lot of pride when I tell people that the average time of faculty service here at Tulane is greater in the School of Continuing Studies than in any other division in the university. We probably average about 12 years per person in being at Tulane. I've been here 30 years; I have an adviser who has been here 35 years. We've got people who work at our front desk areas who have been here 27 years. That helps students get through."
"You walk in here and our staff members know who you are, what you are and how they can help you. I think that's what makes it successful. We are a large program, we're spread out over two states and four locations and we're successful mostly because of the people we have here. They know why you're here. And the reason they stay here and they've been here all these years is because it makes them feel good to help our students graduate."
